How Does a Provo Condo Become BYU Approved Housing?

Provo, UT is home to 30,000 students attending Brigham Young University (BYU). These students are bound by a "code of honor", they must sign on acceptance to the University. One of the codes is only to live in BYU approved housing while attending school. Therefore, when buying a condo for your Provo BYU single student or as an investment property, it is useful to be designated as BYU Approved Off-Campus Housing.
To qualify and remain as BYU Approved Housing a condo owner must agree to the following policies:

    
Separate single men single women within the complex. No mixing in a single unit.
    
BYU reasonably apply "residential living."
    
Keep the condo and / or complex in good condition.
    
Prohibit "sex offenders" from the occupation.
    
Defend the basic rights of tenants.
BYU residential living standards of the landlord to agree to apply the following:

    
Off-campus policies visit: a visitor) of the opposite sex are not allowed in rooms, they must stay in the living areas and kitchen only, b) visitors of the opposite sex should not use areas of room bathroom unless it is an emergency or civility requires, and only if the security, confidentiality and sensitivity of other residents is not compromised.

    
Off-campus for students Visiting Hours simple: a few hours) Visitors must begin after 9:00, b) visiting hours are to end 0:00 to 12:00 on weekdays and on Saturdays, Sundays and b) visiting hours may be extended until 1:30 AM on Friday night. Approval process for BYU Approved Housing Status:
1. Always remember that this is at the sole discretion of BYU Provo Homes condo or not will be accepted as BYU approved off-site housing. Condos must be renewed annually and prior approval does not guarantee future approval.
2. Your condo should be located within the housing BYU approved off-site.
3. Fill out the form "Application of New Condominium Owner." This application may be obtained from the Office of BYU off-campus housing located on the campus of BYU (C-141 ASB) in Provo or found online on the website housing . byu.edu.
4. You will need to read the manual BYU housing and then take and pass an open book exam consisting of 40 multiple choice questions.
5. Each new owner is required to meet in person or by telephone a representative of off-campus housing for an interview the owner to review the program at BYU off-campus housing.
6. An inspector from BYU off-campus housing to make a final inspection of your condo and issue a "Certification of facilities."
7. Due to the proliferation of illegal rental units in Provo, BYU requires obtaining a "rental license" Provo City before final approval.
8. Upon final approval, you must sign an "Agreement for Contracted Off-Campus Housing" and you're done for a year.
